Metro Car Free Day Video Contest

This year, in support of Car Free Day, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) is conducting a YouTube video contest. We are asking area commuters who choose to use any mode of Metro to document their trips with video and then publish it to YouTube. Free promotion: In support of Car Free Day, on September 22, 2008, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is offering all Federal employees a one-day free trial to work at one of the 14 Telework Centers it sponsors at no cost to their agencies. Telework Centers offer on-site technical support, fewer distractions, and the benefit of working in a professional environment that's closer to home.

The free one-day trial will allow Federal employees already teleworking from home, or thinking about teleworking in the future, to try one of the Telework Centers without making a long-term commitment. The 14 Telework Centers are located in the greater Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Click here to see locations and point of contact (POC) information. All Federal employees must email or call the appropriate POC to schedule their visit to one of the centers.

Federal employees interested in taking part in this promotion should contact their telework coordinator regarding their agency's telework policy. A list of agency telework coordinators may be found at www.gsa.gov/telework.

The Brita Climate Ride

The Brita Climate Ride is the first ever group bicycle ride to raise awareness of global warming and promote renewable energy solutions. Over 100 cyclists will be riding from New York City to Washington DC from September 20th-24th. You are invited to join the final day: ride to the Capitol building, attend a press event with members of Congress, and make a statement about this important issue!

Over 150 Climate Riders will be bicycling from Baltimore to the Upper Senate Lawn near the Capitol building on the morning of Wednesday, September 24th. At 11AM, you can meet the riders at the Silver Spring metro station, joining the ride as it follows the Capital Crescent Trail to the Capitol.
